What is the priority setting?

The priority setting specifies a DSCP (Differentiated Services Code Point) value that Traffic Sentinel will use when marking traffic as low priority. The controller will use the quality of service marking capabilities of switches in the network to rewrite the DSCP value in the IP packet headers in order to mark traffic as "less than best effort". In order for the priority marking to have an effect, devices in the network will need to be configured to place packets with this DSCP value in a low priority queue.

What is the rate limit setting?

The rate limit setting specifies a rate limit as a percentage of the switch port connecting a user to the network. For example, a 20% rate limit applied to a 100Mb/s port would cause a user's traffic to be limited to 20Mb/s.

A block control will disable the switch port connecting a user to the network.

How do I disable control actions?

Each of the Priority, Rate Limit or Block control policies can be individually disabled by setting the policy to "Disabled".

How do I ensure that control actions are manually confirmed?

Each of the Priority, Rate Limit or Block control policies can be individually set to require manual confirmation y setting the policy to "Manual". Control actions will automatically appear on the Sentinel: Controller>Controls page, but will require an acknowledgement

How do I ensure that control actions are automatically implemented?

Each of the Priority, Rate Limit or Block control policies can be individually set to automatically implement control actions by setting the policy to "Automatic". Control actions will automatically appear on the Sentinel:Controller>Controls page.
