InMon Provides 10Gigabit, Multivendor Traffic Monitoring and Analysis at Supercomputing Conference 2003

SC2003 Conference

SAN FRANCISCO — November 19, 2003 — InMon Corp's products relied on to provide network traffic performance analysis at SC2003, the annual high performance computing and networking conference.

InMon's Traffic Server is being used to monitor and manage the SC2003 SCinet show network. This state-of-the-art network infrastructure is used by Bandwidth Challenge contestants to demonstrate the latest technologies, many of which are so demanding that no ordinary computer network can sustain them. Traffic Server's highly scalable traffic data correlation engine monitors hundreds of 10Gigabit and thousands of Gigabit ports, providing the necessary monitoring and performance statistics.

This year's SCinet network includes network devices from many vendors. Traffic Server is monitoring these devices using industry standard sFlow, Cisco's NetFlow, and Juniper's cflow. The scalability of sFlow is allowing Traffic Server to present real-time statistics on bandwidth and application usage, even as the Bandwidth Challenge contestants are driving 10Gbps links close to capacity. Not only is this information being used to judge the contest, but it is also being used by contestants to tune their entries.

"We are delighted to have InMon participate in this year's Bandwidth Challenge," said Greg Goddard, SC'03 Bandwidth Challenge co-chair. "It is our hope that statistics gathered using sFlow technology will provide a unique insight into the SCinet network."

About InMon Traffic Server

InMon Traffic Server presents real-time and historical reports of application-layer traffic flows across the entire network. It allows network managers to identify causes of congestion, distribute new network resources effectively, accurately account and bill for usage, protect against security threats, monitor and manage QoS policies to meet SLAs, and optimize BGP peering relationships. InMon Traffic Server gives network managers the tools and information needed to optimize network performance for today's mission-critical, value-added applications and services.

About SCinet

SCinet is the high-performance network built to support the annual International Conference for High Performance Computing and Communications (SC). SCinet features both a high-performance production-quality network as well as an extremely high performance experimental network, Xnet. Volunteers from educational institutions, high performance computing sites, network OEMs, research networks, and telecommunications carriers work together to design and deliver the SCinet networks.
